God loves the city! He has sovereignly collected people from all nations to populate cities across the globe. But of course, with many people come many problems. The problems include tension between communities and police, turmoil between parents and teens, and turbulence between pastors and parishioners. The Bible calls born again believers to respond to these challenges by submitting to God-ordained authority (Romans 13:1-7; Ephesians 6:1-3; Hebrews 13:17) and by serving as ministers of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-22).
Let me encourage you to take a few minutes to consider what God is doing through ministers of reconciliation who have responded to God’s call to reach people for the sake of His name in cities from Minneapolis to Boston. Listen to the heart of the following urban pastors as they describe the blessings, challenges, and opportunities of urban ministry. Perhaps these videos will inspire you to engage in Great Commission work in the heart of your city! -Jason Ormiston, Church Planting Coordinator Tim Richmond
