Jesus, in Luke 10, tells what may be his most familiar parable. The lawyer who approaches Jesus asks one of the best questions to ask in life, “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” The answer was twofold: Love God and love your neighbors. Of course, we know that the lawyer, trying to find out how to release the smallest amount of love and still reach heaven, asks, “Who is my neighbor?” This question leads to the story of the Good Samaritan. The Good Samaritan is a clear example of the point Jesus is communicating. Kingdom citizens are called to love anyone that they can help. In a world of limited time and limited resources, you can’t help everyone, but just like Jesus exhorted the lawyer we are to “Go, and do likewise.” We, at the Center for Global Opportunities, are proud of every student that invested their MLK Day in serving our Greenville neighbors. Everything from yard work and organizing closets to painting and delivering meals, almost 300 students jumped in to serve at 11 locations around the greater Greenville area.
