Why We Should Pray for the Persecuted Church

We asked the students of BJU to tell us why we should pray for the persecuted church. Here is what they said:

1. "Because prayer is powerful!" -Zach
2. "We are commanded to pray for our brothers and God works through prayer." -Collin
3. "Because it's not us and them. We are all the church. Our family is suffering - how can we not pray?" -Jessica
4. "Because the Bible says so. (Heb. 13:3)" -Moses
5. "Well, first the Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:32, 'Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.' Secondly, prayer is the most powerful weapon for Christians." -Steven
6. "Because God deserves more glory!!" -Josh
7. "Galatians 6:2: 'Bear one another's burdens.' Also in Acts 12, believers fervently prayed for Peter's release from prison." -Bethany
8. "Because the church by definition is ALL believers, and like Paul we should pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ." -Drew
9. "Because God hears and answers prayer." -Gideon

In this time of thankfulness, it is good to remember our brothers and sisters around the world who must gather in fear for their lives - and yet are thankful!
