Reach Beyond Our Campus
You can spend your college years merely sitting in class, the dining common or your residence hall room. You can come up with all sorts of excuses to sit back and not go beyond our front gates. We're all very busy. Or you can spend time each week going beyond our campus to reach into our community for Christ. We have dozens of opportunities for every student to get involved in an outreach - from ministering to inmates at a detention center to playing kickball with children at a Bible club. There is no limit to gospel power. So there should be no limit to our gospel reach.
If you want to get involved in something bigger than yourself, you've found the right place.

Good News Club (Morningside Baptist Church, Greenville)
Leader: Pamela Matthia
Time: Every Tuesday 2-4pm
Location: Pelham Road Elementary School
The Good News Club is a ministry outreach to the children of Pelham Road Elementary School located across the street from Morningside Baptist Church. Each Tuesday after school we bring enrolled students to Morningside Baptist Church for an exciting program of choruses, Bible memorization, puppets, games and Bible stories. Most of these children come from unchurched homes. Over the years, we have seen many accept Christ as Savior. There are opportunities to lead music, play the piano, teach verses, keep records, teach stories, counsel children or just sit with them during the club as a Grade Shepherd. If necessary, transportation can be arranged from campus. Contact Pamela Matthia [email protected] or (864) 444-6965 (texting best)
Deaf/Blind Outreach (Grace Baptist Church, Landrum)
Leaders: David & Dawn McCullough
Time: Wednesday night outreach at 5:30 - 7:40pm (it is also preferred for students to attend Sunday services at GBC since many of the blind/deaf people attend as well)
Location: Grace Baptist Church (1795 Landrum Mill Rd, Campobello, SC)
This is an exciting and unique Outreach ministry to SC School for the Deaf and Blind students of all ages. We have the opportunity to share the Gospel and show the love of Christ to these students. The GBC bus brings these students off campus to Church. We start with a game time in our gym. After this, we divide into classes. There are separate classes for Blind students, Deaf lower and upper elementary and Deaf teens. We start with songs and prayer then teach a Bible lesson. We are using the Creation to Christ curriculum. For those interested in helping, no language skills are required. There is no language barrier with the Blind students, however the Deaf student classes are in ASL. An ASL class is also offered. We utilize game leaders, song leaders, and those willing to teach. We are looking for students willing to commit to this weekly ministry.
Pastor Vance encourages anyone interested in ministering with us to be involved Sundays and Wednesdays. We have church folks that invite students to their home after Sunday morning services for a meal and rest prior to our Sunday evening service. This helps students out with less driving time and gas cost.
Contact us at [email protected] if you are interested.
Griggs Kids (Griggs Memorial Baptist Church)
Leaders: Carter & Julia Henderson
Time: Sundays, 3:45-5:15PM
Location: Griggs Memorial Baptist Church
We are only a few minutes down the road from BJU. Griggs Kids is a bus ministry--we bring children in from all over Poe Mill (the second poorest area in Greenville). It is similar to a VBS in style as we work with inner-city type kids. The kids attend the ministry from 4-5 on Sunday nights, and you can help run games, give Bible lessons, and serve food!
Contact Julia (765-217-9609) for more information.
Hope Baptist Church - Anderson, SC
Leader: Seth Carlson
Time: Sunday evenings 3:30-7:30 pm
Each Sunday evening, we go down to Anderson for teaching a Bible lesson, singing songs, a memory verse, and just hanging out with and discipling the kids who come from broken homes. We usually head out from campus at 3:30pm and get back by around 7:30pm. We need anybody who is willing to serve with teaching or even just help with keeping kids focused and would be interested in discipling the kids there. If they have a car, they could drive students down in as well, that would be great.
Contact Seth ([email protected] & 765-350-0181) for more information.
Iglesia Bautista Calvario Bible Club
Leaders: Marcos Torres
Time: Saturdays, 1:00-4:00PM
Joining Iglesia Bautista Calvario for our Saturday Bible club will give you the opportunity to reach Hispanic children for Christ. If you would like an opportunity to practice your Spanish, this ministry is a great bilingual opportunity. We conduct our Bible club mostly in English, but there are plenty of opportunities to speak with both children and adults in Spanish, as we knock on doors, gather the children in the park, sing songs (in both Spanish and English), teach a Bible lesson, play soccer, and give the children a snack. The Bible club is held every other Saturday and meets at Victor Heights Community Park in Greer, but we can provide transportation from campus. Contact Marcos Torres ([email protected]) for more information.

Mercy Ministry
Miracle Hill
Miracle Hill has many needs - contact Bryan Cardenas at the CGO for specific opportunities. [email protected]
Typical Opportunities:
TW Quarter-Circle Ranch
Volunteers begin with working as ranch hands, which means that you muck stalls and pastures and clean, but we also have training sessions, so you learn how to be around our horses and ride properly with the cues that we use. It depends on your progress and our needs as to the level of participation you can attain. That could be anywhere from ranch hand to instructor. Our main focus with the students is to build a relationship with them and pray for opportunities to share the gospel and to disciple those who are saved.
Most come one day per week. We have lessons on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays 5-7:15 pm (2:15-4:30 pm when the 5-7:15 pm class is full). We do pick up at BJ by the tennis courts at 1:30 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. We also have a second pick up at BJ on Thursdays at 2:30 pm. We will try to accommodate your schedule and work with you if those times are not workable. Usually we get volunteers back to BJ by 8:30-9 pm.
